Social protection response to COVID-19 in rural LAC: Social and economic double inclusion
This policy brief and its one pager reflect on how to improve social protection systems in LAC after the COVID-19 pandemic, analysing how it can ensure food security and social and economic “double inclusion”. In particular, they provide a regional overview of the social protection measures to respond to COVID-19 in rural areas, and analyses four country-level examples that show promising features for building back better during the recovering process. Finally, they deliver policy recommendations to enhance the design and implementation of rural social protection schemes to protect rural household’s food security and enable their “double inclusion”.
Social protection response to COVID-19 in rural LAC: Protection and promotion of employment in the agricultural sector
This policy brief and its one pager reflect on how to improve social protection systems in LAC after the pandemic, focusing on social insurance (SI) and labour market (LM) measures. They study the regional social protection response to COVID-19 and analyse three country-level examples that show promising features for promoting and protecting rural employment in LAC. Based on that, they recommend measures to “build back better” rural social protection.
Social protection response to COVID-19 in rural LAC: Digitalisation’s Potential for Building Back Better
This policy brief and its one pager analyse how digitalisation can facilitate rural populations’ access to effective and adequate social protection and economic inclusion in LAC. For this, they investigate the region’s social protection response to COVID-19 and three good practices in providing digitalised social protection to vulnerable rural populations during this crisis. Based on this analysis and considering the local obstacles to digitalised social protection in rural LAC, recommendations are provided to “build back better” rural social protection after the COVID-19 pandemic.
