The IPC-IG, FAO and socialprotection.org launch online course on SDGs 1 and 2

 The user can choose to start the course at any time, going through its content and activities at his/hers own pace and earn a certificate after completion

 

 

Brasília, April 6—The International Policy Centre for Inclusive Growth (IPC-IG) and the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) launched, on 23 March 2020, the self-paced online course “Poverty Analysis to achieve SDGs 1 and 2”. The course is available at the socialprotection.org platform, and focuses on broadening understanding and strengthening capacity in the use of rural poverty analysis. It covers the multiple and inter-sectoral elements and processes that are vital to adequately support policy and programme design and implementation in sub-Saharan African countries towards eradicating poverty and hunger and reaching SDGs 1 and 2.

“Poverty Analysis to achieve SDGs 1 and 2” is targeted especially for those who are government policymakers and decision-makers, heads or technicians from development departments/programmes, technical experts and practitioners from or focusing on sub-Saharan countries.

Its four modules require 15 hours of studying time. Once the user completes the interactive lessons, tests and a final exam, a certificate of completion signed by the IPC-IG will be available. Access this link for more information and start the course.

The course is a spin-off originated from a project called “Development and implementation of the virtual phase of the Capacity Development” on “Strengthening the use of poverty analysis to achieve SDGs 1 and 2”, which was developed by FAO and the IPC-IG in 2019. The self-paced is a standalone version adapted from the instructor-paced online course held in Ghana and Zambia in 2019, and organised by the FAO’s Regional Office for Africa. The self-paced version is not part of the project and neither a continuation of the instructor-paced course.
