Resumo:Economic growth with income redistribution has been a basic objective of economic development policy in India. Such a strategy seeks to exploit the potential of development programmes for poverty reduction and welfare gains by reducing the costs due to inequality in income distribution. The state of Kerala in India provides empirical evidence to show how it is possible to both achieve growth and improve income distribution through human development. (…)
