On 17 January 2022, the International Policy Centre for Inclusive Growth (IPC-IG) presented to the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) a first draft of a user-friendly, self-explanatory template that aims to provide government entities of ESCWA Member States with hands-on guidance to produce country profiles that will serve as a knowledge foundation to establish comprehensive social protection systems and reforms.

With this template, ESCWA can collect information on social protection systems and programmes, estimate the basic costs of programme alterations or new programmes, and suggest reforms based on recommendations from the country profiles.

The presentation served as training on how to use the template. The presentation slides will be used by ESCWA to explain to government entities and research organisations how the template should be used when writing Country Profile Reports.

The template and the training are both outputs of a project that was signed by the IPC-IG and ESCWA in October 2021. The next steps include the final draft of the template and the final training slides and notes, to be delivered in February 2022.
