The two first micro-courses on the Adaptive Social Protection series are now available again
The two self-paced micro-courses Programmes and Delivery Systems and Data and Information are available again at the socialprotection.org platform. They are part of the e-Learning Series on Adaptive Social Protection, developed by the socialprotection.org platform, in collaboration with the International Policy Centre for Inclusive Growth (IPC-IG) and sponsored by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
The courses were originally launched in February and May 2022, respectively, and were made available online for one month. Now they have been relaunched and are open for an indefinite period, allowing learners to enrol and complete the courses at their best convenience.
After completing the course on Programmes and Delivery Systems, learners will be able to identify ways in which social protection programmes can be designed and adapted to support the capacity to prepare, cope, and adapt to shocks. They should also be capable of recognising the importance of the social protection delivery chain to develop programmes that can be scaled up and respond to shocks.
The Data and Information micro-course addresses issues such as household vulnerability and who is most likely to be at risk from various kinds of shocks. Through this course’s multisectoral approach, learners will gain an understanding of the role of data and information systems in preparing and responding to shocks. Topics include social registries for adaptive social protection, with an emphasis on the issues of collection, sharing, and analysis of data; strengthening the information systems that inform the delivery of social protection programmes; and coordination between relevant sectors.
About the e-Learning series on Adaptive Social Protection
The series on Adaptive Social Protection was designed to help participants recognise the importance of social protection programmes in building resilience and shock responsiveness. It provides solid foundational knowledge of each of the four building blocks of the Adaptive Social Protection framework developed by the World Bank, and promotes an understanding of how to operationalise their main design and implementation aspects. It is composed of four micro-courses, geared at practitioners and policymakers in the fields of social protection, climate change, disaster risk management, and emergency response.
The forthcoming (and final) two micro-courses in this series, on Financing and Institutional Arrangements and Partnerships, are set to be launched in January and April 2023, according to the following schedule:
Course #1 - Programmes and Delivery Systems (online now)
Course #2 - Data and Information (online now)
Course #3 - Financing (to be launched in January 2023)
Course #4 - Institutional Arrangements and Partnerships (to be launched in April 2023)
To enrol in the micro-courses, it is necessary to become a member of socialprotection.org (registration is free). Each course takes between three to six hours to finish, and a certificate will be issued by the IPC-IG and socialprotection.org upon completion.
