Description

socialprotection.org was created to answer a global demand for a free, unbranded, member-based online platform that would foster a lively and collaborative environment for knowledge exchange on social protection, focusing on developing countries. It was an online, member-based knowledge-sharing and capacity-building platform, open to social protection practitioners, policymakers, and experts, as well as academics and students. The unbranded platform directed access to the most up-to-date and comprehensive content on social protection, with a focus on low- and middle-income countries.

The platform provided free access to a variety of features, including searchable databases of social protection sources—which includes text, audio, slides, infographic, video, photos, and other online tools—as well as blogs, news, events, and programme profiles. Members of socialprotection.org are able to join Online Communities dedicated to prominent social protection topics and engage with innovative learning tools, such as online courses, webinars, and livestream events. The platform has evolved considerably since its launch in 2015, reflecting the expansion of social protection policies and programmes worldwide.

During its first years, the focus of the platform was in expanding our reach and growing in members, publications, and stakeholders. Following this evolution, the focus now is on improving and innovating its features and services, while stimulating knowledge sharing and keeping the audience updated on the most relevant discussions around social protection, such as the COVID-19 pandemic and the countries social protection responses towards it.

The platform counted on different partners to support its activities and throughout the years we have diffent projects taking place, such as those related to the platform maintanance, new developments and improvements, e-learning and webinars.
